Party Like A Pirate!
Pirate's In Memphis

The Mid South Pyrate Fair
A pair of public events bring unique fun to Memphis this weekend, celebrating two rather different pillars of human culture: delicious hamburgers and scurvy dog pirates.

The Mid-South Pyrate Faire packs Mud Island River park with plank-walking, merchant ship-pillaging fun Friday, September 28 through Sunday, September 30, while the Best Memphis Burger Fest will send glorious clouds of smells into the air from the Minglewood Hall parking lot Sunday, September 30.
Hosted by the Mid-South Buccaneers, the Pyrate Faire is a free event that brings three days of high seas action to Mud Island River Park. Organizers promise it will be packed with “all things swashbuckling”, with a heavy emphasis on family fun.

While you are in Memphis I recommend that you visit the Rendevous BBQ. I had the pleasure of going there back in 1988 while on my way to see the Liberty Bowl and while the line was long (around the block) to this day I have never had better barbecue ribs...

Old Orchard Beach Maine

Today we set sail North to Old Orchard Beach Maine. Old Orchard Beach is a wonderful family destination that offers something for everyone young, old and in between. Old Orchard Beach has an abundance of restaurants, stores, arcades, an amusement park right on the beach, a pier and seven miles of white sandy beach overlooking Casco Bay. Take a short drive West and there are two water parks, a cinema and the Maine Mall. Old Orchard Beach is truly a lovely place to vacation from July through Labor Day weekend and remains one of my favorite places to P.L.A.P....

And for those of us who like to Party Like A Pirate, OOB is one of the best places to go. The place is rocking from July through the first week of September . Visit the World Famous Pier and shop the many gift stores, eat some pizza, have some fries and, you have to see "Yo Adrian" perform at the bar!

If you are like me and need a fix of hardcore rock and roll you will definitely want to go to Mr Goodbars and check out the house band Riot Act they rock the house to packed audiences throughout the summer.

Maybe you are looking for a laid back "Florida Keys" bar, Old Orchard Beach has that too.
The Brunswick has the largest patio bar on the beach. They have live entertainment a great restaurant, food, a sports bar, hotel rooms and even penthouse suites. What more could you ask for?

If you are looking for a great family destination that offers something for everyone, Old Orchard Beach, Maine is for you.

Key West

Party Like A Pirate is dedicated to pirate's, parrot heads and island lovers around the world. "Yes I am a pirate"... I love the ocean, Jimmy Buffet, the islands and a good party destination. I look forward to sharing some of my favorite ports of call, events, music, musicians, resorts, restaurants and drinking establishments. I invite you all to come along and Party Like A Pirate....

I will start our journey in the fabulous Florida Keys in the city of Key West. It doesn't get much better than this. As a former "Conch" (resident of the Keys, also known as the Conch Republic) and soon to be Conch again, I love Key West. Of course I go to Sloppy Joe's, Ricks and the Hogs Breath Saloon, but my two favorite places to throw down some cold beers and take in the sights are The Whistle Bar and Captain Tony's Saloon.

Welcome to
The BULL

Key West
The Bull and Whistle Bar, located at the corner of Duval and Caroline Streets in Key West Florida, is the last of the old-time Duval Street open-air bars. This is a great place to hang out on the balcony and watch the world go bye. The Bull also holds the distinction of being the oldest open-air bar in Old Town Key West, and it keeps its windows and doors wide open day and night.
The whistle bar is known for its patrons (men & women) who whistle at the opposite sex (sometimes the same sex) as they stroll down the sidewalk below. It's the ultimate people watching establishment in town!
The Bull & Whistle actually has two other bars, the main one is downstairs and the Garden of Eden is on the third floor and is clothing optional and usually has way too many older people who really should keep their clothes on......Needless to say I hit the Whistle Bar, have a few drinks, check out the crowds from above and move onto another adventure...

The bartenders are nice, the drinks are strong and inexpensive. I recommend having a few drinks and then going to Mallory Square for the sunset celebration.

The Bull is open 7 days a week featuring a rotation of great live entertainment and an atmosphere that brings you back to the heart of Old Town Key West!

Captain Tony's Saloon is the oldest bar in Florida and the original hangout of Ernest Hemingway. I love the aura and ambiance of this place, the minute you step into the saloon you feel like you stepped back in time. And what a history it has....

The bright yellow building housing Captain Tony's Saloon has a history as colorful as the town of Key West itself. When constructed in 1852, it originally served as an ice house and doubled as a city morgue in the days before electric refrigeration. Sailboats took bananas to Boston and shipped ice back as ballast cut from frozen lakes in the north. The wide doors allowed for easy access for horses to wheel the ice inside. It was conveniently located as the hanging tree where murderers and pirates were executed by vigilantes stood right beside the morgue. This tree from which 75 people were hanged now grows through the center of the building. Believe it or not, 16 skeletons were found when they were laying a new foundation. There is actually a tombstone in the pool room where the coroner buried his daughter.

A must-see for Buffett fans visiting Key West. Captain Tony Taracino was a close friend of Jimmy's and the inspiration for the song "Last Mango in Paris." Jimmy Buffet sang here for a while in the beginning of his career and now live bands play nightly. Who knows, perhaps you will hear the next Buffet. Stop by for a drink, or just to take a look at The Hanging Tree, located inside the bar.
